As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a background in Public Health, Dr. Camille Payne is well acquainted with the challenges of care delivery in the United States’ healthcare landscape.
As many of her patients have come to appreciate, Dr. Camille has a lighthearted manner in caring for her patients, but knows that getting the best health outcome is serious business. She is thoughtful, has many insights, and takes a team-based approach in getting her patients to “partner” with her in their care.
Dr. Camille received her Doctorate in Nursing from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. She has expertise in Primary, Urgent Care & worked extensively as part of the Surgical Oncology Specialties at Yale-New Haven Health. Dr. Camille has also worked in caring for patients with extensive behavioral and psychiatric histories. As a longtime proponent of the cause of under-served populations, and bridging inequities in health, Dr. Payne deepened her commitment several years ago by becoming a healthcare provider dedicated to helping her patients become better consumers of health. Her work broadened to sharing that passion of caring with future generations of nursing students as part of her role in academia.
Her research interests explore the needs of vulnerable populations; factors of human error-making and implications on patient outcomes, health policy and advocacy.
Dr. Camille has also participated in health missions to Central America, and volunteers her time in various church and local community outreaches educating attendees on preventive health topics in Hartford & New Haven Counties.
